Current Exhibition – "Our House…. A Welcome Home"

On May 7th, the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, under the kind sponsorship of Hiscox opened “Our House…A Welcome Home”, a special exhibition exploring all that makes Bermuda "home" to so many; architecture, history, environment and traditions. Highlights include a recreation of a Bermuda roof, glimpses of generic Bermudian interiors through the years, multi-media installations and a selection of works from the permanent collection. The show comprises approximately 45 paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures and other objects ranging in date from 1778 to the present and includes pieces by artists including Albert Gleizes, Ogden Pleissner and Marsden Hartley.

Among the highlights of Our House...A Welcome Home are a real replica of a Bermuda roof inside the museum, videos depicting the craft of cabinet making and stone masons quarrying for Bermuda stone, both skills that shipwrights would have brought to the island many years ago, and map of Bermuda dating back to the 1700’s.

At the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, you can experience Bermuda as seen through the eyes of artists like Winslow Homer, Georgia O'Keeffe, Charles Demuth, Jack Bush and Albert Gleizes among many others. Many of the paintings in the Bermudiana Collection are landscapes of this beautiful island paradise, and others reflect the unique warmth of Bermuda's people and cultural heritage.

Over the years, new Bermudian and international artists have contributed to the Bermudiana Collection, enabling it to continue to evolve and grow in both traditional and contemporary genres. Our dream for the Collection is to be able to continue to acquire additional works and to create and environment of inspiration to our young, fledgling artists who will become the future.

Please take the time to browse our site, read about our membership and volunteering opportunities and see what's going on at Bermuda's museum!

A big thank you to our sponsors for the current show "Our House...A Welcome Home":
